Gassin is a medieval village perched 200 meters above sea level, nestled in a green setting. It has, from the roof of the tourist office, an extraordinary panorama on the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. On the other side of the village, a splendid view of the bay of Cavalaire and the islands of Or is revealed.

Gassin is a famous village for its old stones, its quality restaurants, its tranquility and its charm.

1. The medieval village

The Gassinois settled on this rocky peak around the eleventh century. Around a fortified tower that one discovers rue de la Tasco, the village has developed. The Passage du Guet and the Porte des Sarrazins are emblematic elements of the historic centre and heritage of the village which also includes a 16th century church, typical wells, and remarkable gates.

The rural heritage can also be seen, such as the Notre-Dame-de-la-Compassion chapel, the restored sheepfold, the Arlatane wash house, the Brûlat mill or the enigmatic monument at Saint-Joseph.

2. L’Androuno

3. Winerie

The ten Gassinoi estates offer you to taste the wines, discover the cellars and leave with a typical souvenir of the terroir.

The presence of tens of hectares of vines around the village is a key element of the Gassin landscape, which can be admired from the rooftop terrace.

Château Minuty, one of Provence’s 18 listed wines, is an important stop on the Gassin wine route. Nearby is the Château Barbeyrolles, whose vineyards are all organically farmed and which was a precursor to light rosés. Two other estates are also labeled “AB”: the Chateau de Chausse, on the road of La Croix-Valmer and the domaine de Bourrian. Domaine Bertaud-Belieu and La Rouillère export worldwide. Domaine Tropez was created by one Gassinois at the end of the 20th century. Cap Saint-Pierre is also a family domaine ; the cellar is located just before the entrance to Saint-Tropez. Finally, the Maître Vignerons de la Presqu’île, in the direction of Cogolin, offer an assortment of wines created in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez.

Gassin is home to other local producers, including an olive grower, the Val de Bois domaine, and a jam house.

Two gardens will immerse you in soothing universes. In the village, the L’Hardy Garden, which has been classified remarkable since 2009, is home to several hundred Mediterranean species. In the plain the rose garden of Gassin offers you a zen universe with old roses by organizing regularly activities: conferences, concerts, etc.

5. Azur Park

Azur Park is one of the main amusement parks in France and one of the main leisure activities in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. In a family atmosphere, about forty attractions are present for the little ones as for the big ones in search of thrills.

6. Golf and polo

Two sports establishments are the originality of Gassin: an international 18-hole golf course and, nearby, the Haras de Gassin which hosts the Polo Club. The final Sundays are open to the public free of charge: the opportunity to discover a rare sport in France.

The secrets beaches

Three discreet beaches await you in Gassin: La Moune beach, where there is a sailing school, Treizain beach and Bouillabaisse beach.

All around the Presqu’île, beaches await you, such as the famous of Pampelonne in Ramatuelle (5 kilometers of beach, with establishments and public spaces), the beaches of Gigaro and Sylvabelle in La Croix-Valmer. In Saint-Tropez several sandy beaches await you, near the village La Ponche coast where along the coastal path (Les Graniers, Canebiers, La Moutte, Les Salin

Nature destination, hiking is an activity not to be missed in Gassin and in the Peninsula. Four marked hikes are available in Gassin, and many others in the surrounding towns. Not to be missed: the coastal path between Ramatuelle and La Croix-Valmer, or, higher up, the hikes around La Garde-Freinet or the Chartreuse de la Verne.
