The exhibition by Paul Richard, born August 31 1967 in Rockford, USA, will showcase his latest creations. Completely self-taught, it was at the age of 25 that he discovered the South of France and came to Saint-Tropez by chance, where he fell in love. Also a musician, Mason founded his own recording studio, collaborating with numerous musicians and developing several artistic projects. Today, he still performs on stage with his pop-rock band.
In parallel with his music, the artist created his first collection of paintings, "Les expressions de l'homme", which brought him to the attention of a major art gallery in New York, which offered him a position as resident artist for a year.
He then took part in his first exhibitions in Europe (France, Italy, Luxembourg...), then in the United States. With his growing reputation and in collaboration with his associate Alissia Noirez, who is in charge of promoting his work, he opened his own art gallery in 2010 in the heart of the old village of Saint-Tropez. Since then, his reputation has grown steadily, with a growing number of collectors, and the artist has attracted the attention of major international galleries.
The artist's work comprises several collections of paintings, sculptures (wood and terracotta), drawings and unique decorative objects.
In his work, we sense vivid reminiscences of the cubism of Picasso and Braque, a colorist and narrative verve sometimes reminiscent of Robert Combas, and above all a sculptural monumentality of his models close to the primitive arts,
In his latest canvases, Mason gives way to more color, the theme being feminine sensuality. A veritable hymn to women, his latest collection transports us into a universe where bodies comfort us.
His painting style moves from the figurative to the abstract, from black and white to color. He gives color great emotional value, and the black strokes that surround it draw faces and highlight silhouettes. In his portraits, flat tints of paint or fine lines suggest joy or melancholy.
