The Bimillenary Olive of the Maîtres Vignerons de Gassin

( Natural wonder - Forest )

The olive tree of Maîtres Vignerons of the Saint-Tropez peninsula is over 2000 years old. The plaque at its foot reads: "Olive of 2000 years, contemporary of Emperor Julius Caesar and Asterix".

All year round.

The olive tree is one of the landscapes of Gassin, with the remarkable garden of L'Hardy-Denonain, the rose garden, the Trois Pins, the forests and natural areas protected from the commune. The olive tree has been present in the wild for several millennia: fossilized remains of leaves dating back 8,000 years BC were found.
The olive tree grows with the establishment of Greek counters in Provence, including Athénapolis in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez, perhaps in Gassin. The olive tree was one of the attributes of the goddess Athena. It has therefore been cultivated in Provence for about 3,000 years. This tradition is perpetuated today in Gassin thanks to the Val de Bois estate.
It is this story that recalls the bi-millennial olive tree of Maîtres Vignerons de la presqu'île de Saint-Tropez.
