A self-taught artist, Catherine Arniac develops work that lies between painting and sculpture, where material and mystery engage in dialogue. Burnt surfaces, organic forms and gilded sculptures play on the visible and the hidden.
Since 2012, Catherine Arniac has been exploring a unique form of work in which concealment allows revelation.
Between painting and sculpture, she creates burnt and cracked surfaces that reveal deep colours, playing on the visible and the hidden.
Her research into eggs — free forms, almost archaeological, made with simple materials and then covered in gold — occupies a major place in her work.
Presented alongside big names in 2023, these sculptures interact with her monumental abstractions, affirming an approach where transformation, matter and mystery become a language in their own right.
Organised by the Culture and Heritage Department.
