Gassin Vignobles & Découvertes
From the roof terrace of the Tourist Office, the spectacular view of the Gulf of Saint-Tropez is magnified by the verdant, unspoilt environment of our region. Forested areas give way to vineyards that stretch all the way from the village to the Mediterranean.
The sea once flowed inland, leaving behind fertile alluvial deposits ideal for grape-growing. The climate between these two hills protects the wine-growing land. They represent 15% of the territory.
Most estates are visible from the viewpoint: Domaine du Bourrian, Château Barbeyrolles, Bertaud-Bélieu, Domaine de Carteyron (Maîtres Vignerons cooperative), Minuty and Domaine Tropez. Château de Chausse can be seen from the viewpoint to the south of the village, overlooking the bay of Cavalaire and the islands of Hyères. Cap saint-Pierre is located near the entrance to Saint-Tropez, while Domaine de la Rouillère stretches between Gassin and Ramatuelle.
It is possible that the Greeks introduced vines around the IIIᵉ century BC. The trading post of Athénopolis, created by the Massaliotes, was in fact located between Grimaud and Saint-Tropez. It’s certain that the Romans were already cultivating wine in Gassin in the 1st century, as evidenced by the remains of villae, large wine estates, that have been discovered.
Technical improvements, human and financial investment, combined with the special terroir of the peninsula, have since the end of the XXᵉ century created an exceptional vineyard on the territory with Minuty, one of the 18 crus classés of Provence, several estates in organic farming or in conversion: Barbeyrolles, Bertaud-Bélieu, Bourrian, Chausse, Maîtres Vignerons, La Rouillère.

Since 2025, the commune has been working with the Gulf of Saint-Tropez to develop the Vignobles & Découvertes label in the area.
