Guided tours, included in the price of admission, are scheduled every day of the year. Accessible and friendly, they give you a new perspective on gardening and the plant world.
More than just a garden, the Jardin des Méditerranées is a place for experimentation and observation. Indeed, as in an open-air laboratory, the gardeners have one objective: to understand the garden's plants as well as possible, so as to accompany them in their development.
For plant lovers, enthusiasts and neophytes alike, there's something for everyone. Contrary to popular belief, botany is not just for the elite. The approach can be both scientific and fun! A wide range of subjects are covered: ecological gardening, botany, ethnobotany, plant biology and plant adaptations... Here, guides and gardeners share the same desire: to help visitors discover the fabulous world of plants.
Have you ever noticed the precious link between flora and fauna? Foragers, hunters, transporters, the so-called "shadow gardeners" are constantly at work in the garden. This is why the Domaine's gardeners have learned to work in collaboration with them: aphids, ladybugs, bees, ants... Each of them deserves to be given their own living space. And to do so, nothing could be simpler than letting the wild plants in the garden flourish!
Let's talk about the resources needed to create and maintain a garden. Have you ever thought of using all those fallen leaves? Gilles Clément, designer of the site, uses his concepts to show us that nothing is lost, and everything is easily recycled. He shares with us a lifetime of experience and reflection on ecological gardens. Putting his concepts into practice at the Jardin des Méditerranées is a perfect illustration of this: proof that each and every one of us can, in our garden or on our balcony, work with nature and above all not against it.
It's also a real world tour that's offered through Mediterranean landscapes (Australia, California, South Africa, Canary Islands, Chile) or "guest" landscapes (New Zealand, subtropical Asia, subtropical America, Arid America). These landscapes are intended to be as natural as possible, with no man's hand to be seen in the garden. A change of scenery is one of the garden's many assets.
