The second evening of the Grimaldines will take you all the way to Senegal with Youssou NDour and the super star of Dakar and their rhythmic, festive music!
Who hasn't heard the unforgettable song ‘7 seconds’?
This legendary track, a duet with Neneh Cherry, earned Youssou NDour a gold disc in 1994, selling over 250,000 copies.
If you're looking for a concert that combines energy, emotion and virtuosity, this is the artist you won't want to miss.
A singer with a powerful voice that's instantly recognisable, he's much more than a musician: he's a living legend.
For over 45 years, he has been thrilling the world with his unique blend of Mbalax, the rhythmic, festive music of Senegal. He made his debut at the age of 19 with the group Étoile de Dakar, before founding his own orchestra, Super Étoile de Dakar, in 1979.
A committed artist, he has sung for the release of Nelson Mandela, for Amnesty International's ‘Human Rights Now’ world tour and for many other causes.
He rubbed shoulders with all the biggest stars - Sting, Peter Gabriel, Tracy Chapman - and became a global star.
His talent earned him prestigious awards, including a Grammy Award for his album ‘Egypt’, two gold discs and even a place among the 100 most influential people in the world according to Times Magazine.
And the story goes on... His new album, ‘Éclairer le monde’, released this year, showcases all his talent. Produced by Michael League, every note has been thought out and recorded with a resolutely modern approach, blending tradition and innovation.
Following this release, he's doing us the honour of taking to the stage at Les Grimaldines for a unique concert that's sure to be electrifying! His powerful voice, virtuoso musicians and irresistible rhythms will take you into a sensational atmosphere. He'll be joined by twelve musicians from the group Super Étoile de Dakar. His concert is an invitation to travel and share.
Come and enjoy an exceptional moment with one of the greatest artists in African music!
