At six o'clock in the morning, Berthe, a hundred and two years old, is shooting at the squad of cops who have stormed her Auvergne cottage.

Eight o'clock: Inspector Ventura begins the most astonishing police custody of his career. The grandmother with the Luger empties her bag and the story of her life is a firework display. There's talk of murderers on the run, the Black Widow and a Nazi buried in her cellar. So... confession or settling of scores? Ventura doesn't know what Berthe's game is, but he knows he'll have to dig deeper. And not just a little.
