The Grimaldines celebrates an exceptional milestone! This new edition gets off to a flying start with the festival's 100th evening, featuring a concert by the undisputed master of salsa, Yuri Buenaventura!

Sixteen years after rocking the Grimaldines stage, he's doing us the honour of returning. It's a unique opportunity to rediscover the boundless energy and Latin soul of this artist, who conquered France in 1996 with a prodigious cover of one of our greatest standards: Jacques Brel's ‘Ne me quitte pas’.

From an early age, Yuri was influenced by contrasting musical styles: on the one hand, the Gregorian chants, French music and classical music his father introduced him to; on the other, the percussion, marimba and African songs that echoed on the beaches of his home town, Buenaventura.
Although he grew up in Colombia, it was in France that he found the light of success. After arriving in Paris to study economics, he began improvising concerts in the metro. It was the 90s and ‘Latino’ fever was sweeping the capital. The salsa singer's talent soon caused a sensation, making Yuri Buenaventura one of the hottest artists of the day.

Thanks to the success of his cover of ‘Ne me quitte pas’, he released his first album ‘Herencia Africana’ in 1996 and made history by becoming the first salsa singer to win a gold disc. He went on to win four more gold discs for each of his subsequent albums: ‘Yo Soy’ in 2000, ‘Vagabundo’ in 2003, ‘Salsa Dura’ in 2005 and ‘Cita con la luz’ in 2009.

In September 2024, he unveiled his new album ‘Amame’, which literally means ‘Love me’. In this opus, he brings together two worlds: on the one hand, traditional salsa and Caribbean music with tropical sounds; and on the other, New York urban rhythms and jazz harmony.
He sees this album as a tribute to New York Latin music and its musicians.
